Outdoor burning in the Town of Oregon is subject to specific regulations, with the following exceptions:
1. The Fire Department must be notified prior to any burning within the Oregon Area Fire/EMS District.
2. Individuals conducting the burn will be held responsible for any damages and/or costs associated with extinguishing the fire.
3. A burn permit is required and must be obtained by phone or in person at the fire station on the day of the burn.
Additional guidelines include:
- The burning site must be situated at least 30 feet away from any structures.
- The fire must be attended at all times during the burn.
- Appropriate means for extinguishing the fire should be readily available at all times.
It is important to note that the burning of certain materials is prohibited, including:
- Trash
- Plastics
- Rubber
- Construction waste
- Treated wood
- Painted wood
- Waste oil
- Recyclables
