On this day, we remember the tragic events of September 11, 2001, and honor the bravery and selflessness of the first responders and civilians who risked, and in many cases, gave their lives to help others.

When the attacks began in New York City, Washington, D.C., and Pennsylvania, first responders across the country watched as their fellow firefighters, police officers, and EMTs rushed into danger. The men and women of the New York City Fire Department, police officers, and EMS personnel worked tirelessly to rescue as many people as possible from the chaos that unfolded at the World Trade Center and beyond. Many paid the ultimate price in their effort to save lives, and their sacrifice will never be forgotten.

Alongside these professionals were countless civilians who showed incredible courage, helping strangers to safety, providing aid, and offering whatever assistance they could in the face of unimaginable terror.

We reflect on the events of that day with deep respect for the dedication, bravery, and compassion demonstrated by all those involved. The actions of these first responders, as well as the civilians who stepped up in the midst of disaster, serve as a reminder of the strength and resilience of the human spirit.

Today, we take time to remember the nearly 3,000 lives lost and the countless others who were impacted by this national tragedy. The heroism shown by so many on September 11, 2001, continues to inspire first responders everywhere.

We honor their memory, their bravery, and their sacrifice.
