The Oregon Area Fire EMS District (OAFED) is recruiting for the position of Firefighter/Paramedic to fill a fill a newly created position. Candidates are encouraged to accept a part-time position if offered. Those on the part-time roster will receive priority consideration upon the availability of a full-time vacancy.
With a focus on a family-like atmosphere, the OAFED is a combination department consisting of career, paid-on-premise, paid-on-call, and intern personnel currently operating at the Paramedic level. The district is a rapidly growing community covering approximately 43 square miles of urban and rural communities and responds to 1800 incidents annually.
Competitive wages are based on the IAFF Local 311 bargaining agreement. Comprehensive benefits include health, dental, life, and accident insurance, State of Wisconsin Retirement System (WRS) enrollment, a deferred compensation program, vacation and sick leave, paid holidays, and an Employee Assistance Program (EAP). The career firefighter/Paramedic is scheduled on a 48-hour work week.
The minimum requirements consist of possessing a State of Wisconsin EMT-Paramedic license or the ability to obtain, or be currently enrolled in a Paramedic training program. Additionally, all full-time employees are required to obtain State of Wisconsin Firefighter I & II, Motor Pump Operator, and Fire Inspector certifications as part of the conditions of employment.
