Fire Division

The Oregon Area Fire/EMS District is an all-hazards department, which means we respond to various incidents, including structure fires, brush fires, motor vehicle fires, natural gas leaks, and smoke/carbon monoxide alarms, among others. We operate as a community-first department, aiming daily to meet the community’s needs and assist residents and visitors whenever possible. Operating from a single fire station, the OAFED has a Duty Chief, an Engine Company, and a Paramedic Ambulance staffed daily to respond to calls 24/7/365. For significant incidents such as structure fires, we have automatic mutual-aid agreements that provide additional resources to ensure a robust response to the needs of the incident. The OAFED also participates in the Mutual Aid Box Alarm System (MABAS), which provides additional resources during large-scale incidents.

The OAFED responds to nearly 500 fire-related emergencies annually, but our responsibilities extend beyond emergency responses. When not attending to emergencies, our staff spends time training, completing daily apparatus inventory and maintenance, and performing station duties and upkeep. Our career staff are also responsible for conducting numerous fire inspections throughout the community to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal standards.

Community outreach is one of our most important roles. The OAFED dedicates hundreds of hours each year to meeting with various businesses, groups, organizations, residents, and anyone else seeking our time to promote fire safety. This includes site visits, school visits, tours, and presentations at schools, as well as participation in other community events where our personnel are available to the public.
