Submissions for yesterday’s snowfall event have closed. Thank you to the community members who adopted a hydrant, we’ll be in touch soon with prizes.
The deadline to submit a photo to our Facebook Messenger account has been pushed to 8pm today. With the potential snowfall coming tomorrow it is important to clear the hydrants today so the next round is easier to clear away.
The Oregon Area Fire/EMS District has officially activated the Adopt-a-Hydrant program following today’s snowfall! ❄️🚒
When hydrants are buried under snow and ice, firefighters lose precious time during an emergency. By clearing a 4-foot radius around a hydrant and ensuring a clear path to the street, you can help us protect our community. (Be sure to shovel all four sides, not just the front and back.)
To make things even more rewarding, we’ve partnered with Culver’s and Pizza Hut to offer prizes! 🍕🍦 Residents who clear their adopted hydrant and submit a photo will be entered into a random drawing for a chance to win a prize.
1️⃣ Shovel out your hydrant – make sure it’s fully accessible!
2️⃣ Snap a photo of your cleared hydrant.
3️⃣ Submit your photo by messaging us through Facebook, be sure to include your address for hydrant verification.
If you clear your hydrant during the start or middle of the snowfall, it may become buried again. Be sure that your hydrant is fully cleared by the end of the snowfall if you want a chance to win. Winning hydrants will be checked by our crews before winners are announced/contacted. The deadline to submit photos for this snowfall is February 13, 2025 at 6pm. Only photos submitted within the cutoff time will be eligible for the drawing.
This program will be activated on an as-needed basis throughout the winter. Watch our website and Facebook page for updates!
Thank you for helping us keep Oregon safe this winter! 🚒🔥
